As a freelance contract driver since 2008, I've made deliveries for a variety of enterprises and large carriers, and you've most likely seen me around. Some you may be familiar with are Arizona Parcel Express (APEX Tony), Principal Distribution (Kerry), Pressed 4 Time (Chris), Quick Silver, Coyote Courier, Henry Industries, Excel, Roadie (for whom I have over 1400 "5" star ratings), and Go Share. I currently distribute high-end car components for Penske Automotive North Scottsdale to a variety of shops. On the Roadie app. I've transported thousands of tires for Discount Tire and a wide range of merchandise for The Home Depot, Lowe's, CVS Pharmacy, Tractor Supply, Walmart, Best Buy, and Pet Smart. As an STA for a few of the listed companies, I've transported goods like human tissue, prescription drugs, labs, deceased bodies, animals, and various types of cargo to the Phoenix Airport, hospitals, clinics, and assisted living facilities.
Also, a proud US Navy Vietnam veteran who served honorably.
On April 29th, with the fall of the South Vietnamese government eminent, the U.S. Military launched Operation Frequent Wind to evacuate the remaining Americans and at-risk Vietnamese from Saigon. Over the course of two days, the U.S. evacuated over 7,000 people by helicopter from designated locations across the city, including the U.S. Embassy and the Attached Defense Office compound. Though not part of the original plan, members of the South Vietnamese Air Force participated in the airlift. Pilots flew helicopters filled with South Vietnamese civilians out to sea in hopes of finding U.S. Navy vessels on which to land. Thousands of others fled by boat. Michael Clark, who served on the USS Barbour County landing ship tank in the South China Sea during Operation Frequent Wind and took on 956 refugees from the waters, states, I've always been amazed at the courage it took for those fathers and mothers to take their whole family and put them on a little ship... and hope someone will be there to rescue them. Because they knew there was nothing to go back to.
And I've always wished those people we "did" rescue good fortune in the years to come because they deserved it, and now many are U.S. citizens.
